Editorial policy

By MenoVerdict editorial team

MenoVerdict publishes independent, evidence-graded information for women in perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Every article, tool, and buying guide follows our evidence evaluation standards for source verification, medical honesty, and commercial independence.

1. Source hierarchy and verification

We never invent studies, statistics, DOIs, quotes, or clinical claims. Before any medical statement is included on a page, our editorial team opens the primary source and records its exact finding in our public source registry. We weight evidence in this order:

  1. Regulatory prescribing labels and safety communications (such as U.S. FDA prescribing information and UK MHRA notices).
  2. Clinical society practice guidelines and consensus statements (including The Menopause Society, NICE NG23 in the UK, ACOG, and the International Menopause Society).
  3. Systematic reviews and large randomized controlled trials (RCTs) (such as Cochrane reviews and multi-center clinical trials).
  4. Smaller trials and observational studies, which we explicitly label as limited evidence.

See our evidence grading method for how these sources translate into the badge shown at the top of each medical article.

2. Medical review honesty

We never display a "medically reviewed" badge, a clinician's name, or medical reviewer schema unless a verified, licensed clinician has reviewed and approved that exact version of the page. When a page is edited, its approval hash resets automatically until a clinician re-reviews the change.

Until a page has been reviewed by a named clinician, it displays a clear notice stating that the content is general information based on published sources and was not written by a doctor.

3. No diagnosis or prescribing

Our articles and interactive tools explain possible causes, clinical guidelines, and questions to take to an appointment. They never diagnose a condition, tell you which stage of menopause you are in as a medical fact, recommend that you take a specific drug, or give personalized medication doses.

4. Safety outranks commercial revenue

Reader safety always comes before affiliate revenue:

  • We never place affiliate links or product blocks in urgent care alerts, abnormal bleeding guides, cancer history sections, crisis pages, or tool results.
  • Commercial partners have zero say in our evidence grades, article rankings, or verdicts. Read our full affiliate disclosure for details.

5. Corrections and updates

We review articles when regulatory labels or clinical guidelines change, and we log every material update on our corrections and updates page as well as in the change log at the bottom of each article. If you spot an error, please reach out through our contact page.
